55th Anniversary Activities



The WAIS conference is widely known for its quality, interactive general sessions and networking in a casual setting.  In addition to the educational programs, activities are intended to facilitate wellness, networking and shared experiences amongst the IR community. To commemorate the 55th anniversary of WAIS, the following activities are planned for "Elevating IR".

Garden of the Gods "Elevating IR" Hike

Saturday, September 20th, 2025 (7:00-10:00 am)

WAIS attendees will share a special guided tour (Hikes for Life) through the Garden of the Gods ... a breathtaking experience and photographic opportunity. 
  • The group will be divided into two tours (Classic & Immersion).  
    • The Classic hike is a 2-3 mile hike viewing awe-inspiring rock formations at this National Historic Landmark.  You'll also have time to visit the gift shop and museum afterwards.
    • The Immersion hike is a 4-6 mile hike that will take you “off the concrete” path to some of the lesser visited rock formations in Garden of the Gods!
  • Beverages, snacks and commemorative swag will be provided.
  • Shuttles from the Broadmoor will be provided for the 15 minute commute.

Garden of the Gods "Elevating IR" Hike

Saturday, September 20th, 2025 (6:30-9:30 am)

WAIS attendees will share a special guided tour through the Garden of the Gods at sunrise ... a breathtaking experience and photographic opportunity. 
  • This activity is limited to 60 registrants
  • The group will be divided into two tours (Classic & Immersion).  
    • The Classic hike is a 2-3 mile hike viewing awe-inspiring rock formations at this National Historic Landmark.  You'll also have time to visit the gift shop and museum afterwards.
    • The Immersion hike is a 4-6 mile hike that will take you “off the concrete” path to some of the lesser visited rock formations in Garden of the Gods!
  • Coffee, snacks and commemorative swag will be provided.
  • Shuttles from the Broadmoor will be provided for the 15 minute commute.

2025 Coons Cup Golf Tournament

Monday, September 22nd, 2025 (1:15-5:45 pm)

Set in the Cheyenne Mountain foothills of Colorado Springs, The Broadmoor Golf Club is consistently ranked among the best in the world. Presidents, politicians, celebrities, and legendary athletes have played at Broadmoor, and now the best of Interventional Radiology will join their guest list!

    • This activity requires advanced registration as the tournament consistently sells out months in advance of the conference.
    • Teams of four will compete in a shotgun scramble for Best of WAIS!
    • Boxed lunches provided with registration
    • After the tournament, be sure to visit the dazzling new Colorado Golf Hall of Fame Museum located next to the pro shop.

Tennis & Pickleball Socials

Monday, September 22nd, 2025 (2:30-5:00 pm)

Rated as one of the Top 25 tennis resorts in the country by Tennis Magazine for the past 20 years, The Broadmoor Tennis & Pickleball Club is a legendary destination for players of all skill levels. These superior facilities include three cushioned hard courts, two Har-Tru courts and three dedicated pickleball courts. 

  • This activity requires advanced registration.
  • Groups will be separated into tennis or pickleball round robin play.
  • Refreshments will be provided.
  • All play will be rotating doubles with individual scoring.
  • Bonus points will be awarded for on court IR trivia questions.

Welcome Reception at Sunset

Saturday, September 20th, 2025 (6:00-8:00 pm)

Located next to the Broadmoor's Cheyenne Lake with incredible views of the Cheyenne Mountain in the background, the Lakeside Terrace offers a timeless setting.  The WAIS welcome reception is the meet and greet activity of the WAIS 2025 event.  We invite everyone to join us to kick off the 55 year celebration.  

      • All registrants are welcome to attend - please register for the event
      • Event includes hosted bar for 1.5 hours
      • Light appetizers will be provided



WAIS Banquet Dinner

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025 (6:30-9:00 pm)

Located in the Broadmoor Ballroom.  The WAIS Banquet Dinner is the final night activity for the WAIS 55 year celebration.  Join us for this night of networking, fun and entertainment.

  • This activity requires advanced registration
  • Hosted bar for 2 hours
  • Gourmet buffet dinner
  • Awards for Golf Tournament and other week activities
